A Message from the District Attorney...
Dear Friends and Neighbors:
The dedicated members of my office continue to demonstrate the importance of community outreach, strengthening trust with our residents while aggressively holding sexual predators and violent offenders accountable.
Last week, I had the great pleasure of spending the evening traveling throughout our wonderful Westchester County as communities came together to celebrate National Night Out.
It was a joy to meet new friends, catch up with old ones, and spend time with our valued law enforcement partners.
National Night Out reinforces that safer communities start with strong relationships and communication. From Yorktown and Peekskill to White Plains, Greenburgh, Bronxville, Yonkers, and more, members of my office came out in force, standing alongside neighbors and law enforcement across the county to listen, answer questions, and share valuable resources about the critical work we do to protect and serve our communities.
These conversations are at the heart of community policing, and by building trust and staying connected with those we serve, we can work together to make our neighborhoods safe and strong.
In keeping with my promise to combat sexual predators and those who lurk on the internet seeking to harm our children, I’m pleased to announce that my office arrested Lakeland Central School District employee Francis John Teeling for allegedly possessing and sharing explicit content of young children online.
So far, we have made nearly 30 arrests involving child sexual abuse material since I took office.
The investigation by our High Technology Crime Squad and Cyber Crimes Bureau reaffirms our unyielding dedication to unmasking sexual deviants, preventing further abuse and exploitation, and holding those who prey on vulnerable victims fully accountable for their reprehensible crimes.
I’m also proud to share that our Special Prosecutions Division secured two significant sentences – one against Port Chester man Segundo Pucha-Carchi, who was sentenced to up to 31 years in prison for sexually abusing a 12-year-old child, and another against Ajany Waite, a Mount Vernon man who received an 18-year prison term for violently attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
Further, our Sex Crimes Bureau successfully indicted Bronx man Alberto Botero on charges including attempted rape, assault, and sexually motivated burglary for an alleged attack on a mother and daughter inside their Greenburgh home.
What stands out most in these cases is the extraordinary courage of the survivors who came forward and shared their horrific experiences in the face of unimaginable violence. Their strength is a powerful reminder that no one should have to face their trauma alone.
