An update from Dr. Brian Harris: October 8, 2020
Dear Barrington 220 Community:

After the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6, we shared the metrics we are using to determine if the district is able to implement its Hybrid plan. We have been using a dashboard created by Northwestern Medicine for Metric #1 and Metric #2 (number of new cases and positivity rates for zip codes 60010, 60110, 60192, 60021). It is important to continue using this website due to our school district encompassing four different counties and four different zip codes.

Last night Northwestern Medicine updated the way it is reporting those numbers on its dashboard, based on new CDC indicators. Therefore, we have adjusted Metric #1 and Metric #2 on our webpage to align with the Northwestern Medicine dashboard.

Please note, this does not change any of our plans. We will still implement the Hybrid plan on Monday, Oct. 19. Click here to view the district’s status as of today, based on the updated metrics.

In order to make sure everyone stays informed, beginning on Monday, Oct. 12 we will send out a weekly communication which will provide the following information:

  • Barrington 220’s current status based on the metrics
  • A COVID-19 dashboard, which will show the number of positive and quarantine cases among students and staff at each school
  • Upcoming Board of Education topics

If you have questions I encourage you to use our "Ask a Question" tab on our coronavirus webpage, or reach out to your building principal. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these changes and continue to update our community with this important information.

I am excited to continue daily instruction for all students, whether they are continuing in a Distance Learning format or returning to our buildings on Oct. 19.
