Last week I wrote to you about COVID-19 and the ways in which The Lamplighter School has prepared in the event of a school interruption. We have a plan of action to minimize the potential impact of this health issue on our School community. New cases of COVID-19 are diagnosed each day; therefore, monitoring this ever-changing situation is a priority. Having our students wash hands regularly, daily use of an air system designed to reduce contaminants, along with ensuring that every area of the building is sanitized using an electrostatic machine, are just a few of our standard practices to keep our community healthy.

In the event that classes are interrupted, The Lamplighter School has an academic educational continuity platform called Seesaw. This platform allows Pre-K through fourth grade students to receive lessons and complete age-appropriate activities online. Lamplighter is in close contact with our surrounding schools to ensure that we are working in coordination with one another.

As Spring Break approaches, we urge families to be mindful of the global travel restriction and to consider the potential challenges associated with travel to regions directly affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The U.S. State Department, Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and Texas Department of State Health Services have all issued warnings about the risks of both domestic and international travel. According to the CDC, re-entry into the United States from Level 3 countries (China, Italy, Iran, and South Korea) requires that individuals stay home for 14 days from the time that one leaves the affected country. For your convenience, an icon on the  Parent Portal , titled  World Health Updates , has been established for easy access to information from these entities.

The situation is one that is constantly evolving. This afternoon we learned that one case of COVID-19 was diagnosed in Collin County. We will continue to provide updates throughout the week as needed. If you have any questions or would like to talk further about Lamplighter and the level of preparedness that we have established, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
