Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)- childhood experiences of abuse, neglect and household dysfunctions, which have the potential to dramatically upset the safe, nurturing environments children need to thrive.
At Kansas Children's Service League (KCSL), we know every child can thrive by five, and we look to experts like Molly Wright to help educate everyone about how this can be accomplished. Molly talks about the importance of connecting, talking, playing, a healthy home and community in order for children to reach their full potential. Through home visits, KCSL encourages and teaches parents to connect, talk and play with their child. Unfortunately, many parents are occupied by other things like trying to figure out how they are going to pay rent or what happened at work or school that day. KCSL reminds parents about the incredible gift they can give to their child. These interactions, which occur early and often in a child’s life, help them make friends, try new things, explore their world, get a job and give them the skills they will need when they decide to start their own family.
Imagine the difference we could make. When someone asks you why you choose to support KCSL, share this TED Talk from the passionate young advocate Molly and the family success stories below.
