Dear Families & Friends,
Welcome to our email update highlighting the happenings at Light of Hearts Villa (LOHV).
AROUND THE VILLA
Join Hands Day 2017
The weather cooperated nicely for Join Hands Day 2017, blessing our volunteer gardeners with a pleasant Spring day just perfect for gardening!
We are grateful to the kind volunteers from the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association who beautified the Villa grounds with colorful geraniums, begonias, and petunias. Members of Girl Scout Troops #70131 and #70424, guided by troop leaders Sue Ann Sich and Sandra Orland, transformed our Lumen Lane garden into a butterfly and hummingbird haven.
We send a heartfelt thank-you to all for making Join Hands Day 2017 such a blessing for the Villa and our residents.
LOHV Honors Donors on Appreciation Night
The Villa held its second annual Donor Appreciation Mass and Reception on the evening of May 25th. The centerpiece of the evening was Mass celebrated by Bishop Roger Gries in our Chapel. The Villa is grateful to our donors, who enrich our residents' lives each year with their unfailing compassion and kindness.
Meet Our New Therapy Pets!
This month our residents spent quality time with Vanellope the bunny rabbit and Lucky the cat. Vanellope, a Lionhead rabbit, and Lucky, a Maine Coon cat, specialize in snuggling with our residents and spreading love, happiness, and fluffiness.
Many Happy May Happenings
This month was full of celebration and special events for our residents. They participated in the May Crowning Mass on May 3rd, enjoyed ice cream and a scenic drive through the Bedford Metro parks on May 17th, and performed a beautiful Bell Choir Spring Concert on May 19th.
Honoring Our Service Members
Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. It commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. The wearing of poppies is traditionally done on Memorial Day, symbolizing the heroic sacrifices made by our service members.
Celebrate this Memorial Day with a prayer for peace and a spirit of gratitude for all who serve and have served in the military forces.
Tea with Betty
I enjoyed a wonderful springtime Tea with our residents as we shared stories, laughed, and reminisced.
