March 2017

Dear Families & Friends,

Welcome to our email update highlighting the happenings at Light of Hearts Villa (LOHV).

SAVE THE DATE
Lumen Cordium High School Reunion
We have seen a phenomenal response to the Lumen Cordium High School Reunion, which Light of Hearts Villa will sponsor on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 7:00 PM. Attendees will gather at the Villa to touch base with old friends and enjoy an evening of laughter, good times, and happy memories.

AROUND THE VILLA

St. Patrick's Day Raffle
Hard-working Villa volunteers Ralph and Millie Pesta were blessed with the luck o' the Irish at the Villa's St. Patrick's Day raffle drawing on March 15th. The lucky couple won a basket full of St. Patty's Day-themed goodies, and a bright green leprechaun wig to boot! All proceeds will be used to benefit our residents.

Congratulations, Ralph and Millie!

March Birthday Bash
LOHV residents Violet and Ray celebrated noteworthy birthdays this month. Bedford Mayor Stan Koci and Councilwoman Paula Miszak stopped by to present special proclamations to these residents and their family members.

FOX 8 Features the Villa
Light of Hearts Villa was recently chosen to appear on FOX 8's Morning Show. On the morning of March 29th, a group of residents, staff, and volunteers gathered on the grand staircase across from our Chapel to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The segment will air in tw o weeks on the FOX 8 Morning Show at 6:15 AM.  We are happy to be offered this perfect opportunity to showcase the Villa.

March Goings-On

Our residents enjoyed many fun activities  and events as they waited for Spring to finally come. They got involved in Easter craft projects, enjoyed a puppet show put on by Michael Bertsch and his 4th grade St. Dominic's students and volunteers, and even got the chance to see Elvis.

VILL A HIGHLIGHT
Carol Szczepanik, Chairman of the Board
This month we are pleased to Highlight Carol Szczepanik, Chairman of the Board. Carol has been on the Board of Directors of Light of Hearts Villa since May, 2012, and was elected to the board chair position in May, 2014. She is a Lumen Cordium High School graduate and began her relationship with Light of Hearts when her mother, Helen, moved into Light of Hearts in February, 2012. Carol received her LLM, advanced law degree, from CWRU, JD from Cleveland State University and is an adjunct professor at the University of Akron.

Carol tries to be an ambassador for Light of Hearts in the community by stressing the uniqueness of Light of Hearts to everyone who will listen. She believes there is a special spirit at Light of Hearts Villa that permeates everything that happens within its walls.
