Dear Parish Family,

As I mentioned in last week’s update, the next step in our search process is forming the Rector Search Committee.

As a reminder, the Rector Search Committee will work alongside the Vestry to develop a parish profile and Rector position description before reviewing all applications. The committee will identify the candidates it believes are qualified to serve as the next Rector of Christ Church and recommend those candidates to the Vestry. The Vestry will then conduct interviews and discern whom God is calling to serve as our next Rector.

The Rector Search Committee will consist of 7–9 parishioners who represent the breadth and diversity of our Christ Church community. Committee members will work closely with the Vestry to develop the parish profile and position description before beginning the candidate review process.

Serving on the Search Committee will require a significant commitment of time and energy. Members should expect to attend committee meetings, review applications, watch recordings of candidates' sermons, and possibly travel to meet candidates in person. I anticipate that the majority of the committee's work will take place between August and February.

The Vestry has established the following qualifications for Search Committee members. They should:

• Maintain complete confidentiality throughout the process.
• Have been a member of Christ Church for at least three years.
• Be a regular financial supporter of Christ Church through an annual pledge.

Because the Vestry will ultimately interview candidates and make the final selection, Vestry members will not serve on the Rector Search Committee. Therefore, anyone planning to seek election to the Vestry this fall should not apply to serve on the Search Committee.

If you feel called to serve in this important ministry, please reply to this email by Friday, July 3. I will then send you a brief questionnaire that will assist the Vestry in appointing a committee that reflects the full life and membership of Christ Church.
