February 4, 2025
Dear Parish Family,
We kicked off 2026 with The Rev. Stephen Rhoades, Canon to the Ordinary, outlining how the interim period and rector search will unfold. That was followed by Bishop Curry’s visit, which was followed by two weekends of winter weather. January was quite a month!
February at Christ Church will be eventful as well. Children will make their first communion this Sunday. Lent begins, and with it, the return of Wednesday night programming. (I hope to see you there!) Basketball is wrapping up, registration for Vacation Bible School has begun, Bible studies continue, and life at Christ Church goes on.
Assisted by the Bishop’s office, we are continuing our search for an Interim Rector. I look forward to the day I am able to report that we have made a call. The Vestry will appoint a search committee after an Interim Rector is in place and after Bishop Richards determines our parish is ready to move to the search phase of the interim period. Making sure the parish is healthy is one way that we can ensure our readiness to begin the search and to make Christ Church attractive to rector candidates.
Many of you have asked how you can help during this time. Here are a few things EVERYONE can do.
1. Come to church. It’s important for us to gather as a parish family as we think about and plan for the future of Christ Church.
2. Add something else, whether that’s Sunday School, a Bible study, an outreach project, serving on a committee, or some other volunteer role.
3. Invite your friends to join you at church. This is an exciting time as we think about the future.
4. Make your annual giving pledge. If you have already done so, thank you! If you'd like to increase your pledge amount, please contact Kristin Bennett. To make a new pledge, click here. Strong financial support from our members will help us attract a great rector. It also shows the staff and lay leadership that you support the work they are doing.
5. Pray. Pray for the parish, the church staff, the vestry and wardens, our future interim rector, and our new rector.
I hope you’ll let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns. You can reach me at srwarden@ccgsc.org.
I look forward to seeing you at Church!
