Dear Christ Church Family,
As we approach Holy Week and Easter, I wanted to write with an update on our transition and other happenings at Christ Church.
Our search for an interim rector continues. While we all hoped to have someone in place quickly, this is a process, and my prayer is that we find the right person. This has been a reminder to me to be patient, and that God’s timing is much better than my own.
Last summer, the Annual Giving cabinet set a goal of $3 million for 2026. We currently have approximately $2.85 million in pledges, and I am grateful for those pledges and gifts we've received. To align with this, the Vestry approved a budget in February that includes a $100,000 reduction from the original draft, bringing the annual giving budget to $2.9 million. If you have not yet made a pledge, or if you are able to increase your pledge, we would be grateful for your support. Click here to make your pledge today.
In addition, we are facing an unbudgeted capital expense, as the chiller that serves the Parish House has reached the end of its lifespan. If you would like to contribute toward this need, please contact me or Kristin Bennett.
Palm Sunday is this weekend. I hope you'll join us at church for this important day in the liturgical calendar and that you’ll also stay to enjoy the Annual Picnic & Egg Hunt. If you plan to attend the event after church, please register and consider signing up to help. There will be great fun for those who hunt eggs, including a petting zoo. And for those who no longer hunt eggs, it’s still a wonderful time to gather with our church family. I look forward to seeing you there.
As we approach Holy Week and Easter, I hope you’ll consider adding a new service to your calendar (click here for the service schedule). The Easter Vigil has become a favorite service for my family after we first tried it several years ago. As you think about which services to attend, please note that the schedule on Easter Sunday differs from our regular Sunday service schedule.
We offer a lot of services during Holy Week and Easter, and this year is no different, but we are short a priest. Scott and Lindy will be covering nearly all services with no outside assistance. Please keep them in your prayers and thank them for all they are doing during this time.
As always, I am thankful for our dedicated church staff, our vestry, and all of you as we work together in this time of transition. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I’ll write again soon when there is more news to share.
