Our community is grieving following the recent loss of two young people in the Brainerd lakes area. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, friends, classmates, educators, and all who have been affected.

At Central Lakes College, we care deeply about the well-being of our students, employees, volunteers, audience members, and community. We recognize that this loss has heightened concerns around mental health, bullying, belonging, and the challenges many young people face today.

As our Performing Arts Center prepares for upcoming performances of Mean Girls this summer, and Dear Evan Hansen in 2027, we want to acknowledge that both productions address topics that may be difficult for some audience members. While these shows include themes related to bullying, loneliness, mental health, and the desire for connection, they ultimately invite important conversations about empathy, kindness, community, and supporting one another.

Central Lakes College does not condone bullying, harassment, or behavior that diminishes the dignity and worth of others. We are committed to fostering a campus and community culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and supported.

We encourage anyone who is struggling, concerned about a loved one, or in need of support to reach out for help. No one should have to face difficult circumstances alone.
