Cathedral of Saint Paul, viewed as approaching the capital city from the south.

Dear Friends of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation,

We want to thank all of you over this past year year for your support of the Cathedral of Saint Paul shown in so many different ways—by visiting, by worshipping, by attending concerts, graduations, confirmations, weddings, celebrations, lectures, and by giving. The Cathedral is not only a place of worship and architectural beauty but an expression of all that is best in our community. The Cathedral gives such grace and dignity to Saint Paul’s urban skyline, that it is hard to imagine that skyline without the Cathedral dome. For me, one who lives in its shadow, and for many other travelers, it points the way home.

The hallmark of many great cities is a cathedral: Westminster Abbey in London, the Duomo in Milan, the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Chartres, the Basilique in Montreal, St. Patrick’s in New York. Paris was so unthinkable as a city without Notre-Dame that thousands of people across the globe contributed to its re-building and re-opening. The difficult truth is that great cathedrals—like all great monuments—require care and restoration, and our great Cathedral of Saint Paul is no exception. The Cathedral Heritage Foundation’s mission is to support the preservation, restoration, and use of the Cathedral of Saint Paul as monument to architectural and artistic beauty, and a place where the community comes together, not only to worship, but also to experience it as a place of refuge and peace. At this time of year, we humbly ask you join us and our community of other supporters—which now stretches back more than 100 years—with a year-end gift, so that we can continue our mission of preservation. Our website, Cathedral Heritage Foundation/GIVE explains how your can donate online or by mail.

If you can give, we thank you in advance for sharing in CHF’s mission. But whether or not a gift is possible, please spend some time in the majesty and quiet of Cathedral during this season. It will be time well spent.

Gratefully,

Cathedral Christmas Market & Concerts soon.

For those hearty souls who braved brittle cold winds and sleeting rain to join in the festivities last weekend, we loved seeing you!

Enjoy this glimpse for now.
