May is Military Appreciation Month!

May is Military Appreciation Month, and we are proud to celebrate and honor the brave men and women in our armed forces through our Vote in Honor of Veteran program. This program serves to remind us of the sacrifices made by our veterans as we continue to honor them on our social media channels and at local outreach events. To learn more about the Vote in Honor of a Veteran program or how to nominate a veteran or active service member, visit our website at CollierVotes.gov/VETERAN.

Our team continues to prepare for what is sure to be a busy election cycle. Last month, we mailed a Notice of Elections to each voter in Collier County with important dates and deadlines, as well as some additional resources to stay informed about voting in Collier County. We also have our voter guide available, which is a deep dive into everything you need to know to prepare for both the Primary and General Elections. You can pick up a copy of our 2026 Voter Guide or a Notice of Elections at any of our office locations, outreach events, or you can download each from our website.

Honoring Service Through Civic Participation

As the Collier County Supervisor of Elections offices prepares for the 2026 Elections, we are reminding voters that casting a ballot is more than a civic duty; it is a way to honor the men and women who served to protect the freedoms that are fundamental to our country, including the right to vote.

Training Officer, Michael Russell, conducting a New Election Worker Orientation.

New Election Worker Orientations

Each election cycle, our office needs hundreds of volunteers to work at the polls during both early voting and on Election Day. As we approach the upcoming elections, our training staff will be hosting New Election Worker Orientations where individuals can learn more about the process and apply to work in the upcoming elections.

In order to be selected, election workers must be registered to vote in Collier County, be able to complete an orientation, as well as training classes prior to each election and have the ability to assist voters in a nonpartisan manner.

If you are interested in working at the polls this year, visit our website: CollierVotes.gov/HELP to learn more about all the qualifications and to apply to join our Elections Team!

Thank You for Your Service!

As voters head to the polls in 2026, the Supervisor of Elections office encourages residents to reflect on the connection between service and civic participation. Being active in elections is one of the most important ways citizens can honor the legacy of those who fought to protect our rights, including Lieutenant Colonel Brian Markle (pictured left). Lt. Col. Markle served in the U.S. Army for over 50 years, serving through two tours in Vietnam and through Operation Desert Storm. Petty Officer Paul DeGennaro (pictured center). PO2 DeGennaro served in the U.S. Navy and became a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Petty Officer Ed Brown (pictured right) served during the Vietnam War in the Naval Construction Battalion, also known as the Navy Seabees.

The sacrifices our veterans have made protecting our rights and freedoms stand as examples that emphasize the importance of taking our responsibilities seriously, including the right to vote.
