This illustrated journal was published in Moscow by Izvestiya from its beginning in 1923 through 1931 with weekly issues from 1923 to 1929 and 36 issues per year from 1930 through its end in 1931.
Original color cover designs (many of which are considered to be iconic) were designed for the magazine by the Stenberg Brothers, Kulagina, Shevchenko, Efimov, Pinus, Pimenov, Deineka, Deni, Kustodiev, Strakhov, Sarian and other prominent artists.
Krasnaya niva offered literature and poetry as well as reviews of exhibitions, theater performances and discussions of artistic, social and political personalities and issues. Commercial designs include those for Mosselprom, Rezinotrest, Hammer Pencils and the cinema.
The group offered here contains 432 of the total 437 numbers in 429 issues, a 99% run for the nine years that the magazine was published.
