Introducing New Justice and Advocacy Ministry

Have you heard about the newest presbytery ministry? Justice and Advocacy (JAM) formed this year to address racial reconciliation, social justice, and policy changes in our region. JAM formed from the merger of two other ministries—Dismantling Racism and Public Policy Witness—who had similar goals and objectives.

Explore Celtic Wisdom with John Philip Newell

St. Stephen's and St. Paul's Episcopal Churches and First Presbyterian Church (Richmond) invite you to experience Celtic teacher John Philip Newell in October. Choose from three events, one at each church. On October 27, Newell will share his own spiritual journey in relation to the great search for new beginnings today. On the morning of October 28, Newell and his colleague Cami Twilling will explore Celtic wisdom through the sacredness of earth and soul. That evening, enjoy a screening of Hebridean Treasure: Lost and Found with time for reflection and conversation.

Character Actors Wanted for Hanover Christmas

Each year, Camp Hanover hosts Hanover Christmas, a beloved live nativity. They invite you to show off your acting skills by becoming part of the cast. Share the magic of Christmas as guests walk through a candle-lit forest to experience the journey to Bethlehem. The 2023 event is December 8 and 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Roles for all ages are available.

New Hanover Hosts Poverty Simulation

Get a small taste of the challenges of living in poverty through a simulation event hosted by New Hanover Church and Circles Ashland. On October 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., experience living on an extremely limited income through this interactive event. Take on the role of a member of a family or a community representative such as a banker, social service case worker, or police officer. Gain increased awareness and sensitivity for those living below the poverty line. The event is free but registration is requested.
