The last two weeks at Tailwheel Town

We had a little milestone here at Sisters.  Student pilot Tyler Head took and passed his Private Pilot Check Ride.  It's a

double whammy.  Although I began flying with Tyler, I checked out his new instructor, Sam Monte in tailwheel.  Then Sam took over Tyler's instruction and Sam's partner, Walt Lyseki, handled his ground school.  So, with Tyler's

successful checkride, he becomes the latest Outlaw Aviation student to become a private pilot AND the first to become one in a tailwheel airplane.  In addition, Tyler is the first student to be graduated with Sam Monte as his Tailwheel Instructor.  Congratulations to Tyler, Sam, Walt, and their Designated Examiner, David Koebel.

This week's new article on the Tailwheeler's Journal:

This week's new article is a foray into maintenance that I rarely take.  After all, I know my weaknesses!  But, in
"Shock Cooling" I will talk a little about what I know and
what I don't know about this oft-discussed subject.  I'll also relate how I dealt with it when subjected to its possibility.

Old Article :

A while back we had a few "wind" stories to tell and my pal, Bert Garrison, joined in with "Big Blow in Idaho".  Although we

don't normally go looking for it, flying in stout winds are just one way in which a pilot gains experience.  This story is just one of those experiences.  It is also the first time that Bert wrote for the Tailwheeler's Journal and we were glad to have him.

The Tailwheeler's Journal is proud to team with Oregon Aero in our quest to promote safer pilots through  development of greater flying skill. Remember, every pilot who completes a Tailwheel Endorsement or Stick and Rudder Master Class at Tailwheel Town will receive a complimentary Headset Upgrade Kit from Oregon Aero.

This is the bi-weekly newsletter from The Tailwheeler's Journal.  Subscribers to the newsletter receive notice every time something new appears on the site.
