Juggling everyone else’s needs, it’s easy to forget our own. Like many of you, my family now has expanded roles. We thought we were busy enough already, but now we are supporting our kids to help them navigate this “new normal,” socially, emotionally and academically. We want to keep them safe and healthy. We want their futures to remain bright.

Although we are trying to meet all their needs, it is not easy to accomplish. But, the reality is, now more than ever, we need to show grace to ourselves and create our personal wellness routines to keep our own mental, physical and emotional health in check.

As the saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” 

Whatever you do to help keep your own cup full will give you more of what you need to be a source of support to the ones depending on you. Whether that’s reminding ourselves that it's ok for our kids to have a little more screen time, pajamas are acceptable clothing, and even if it is noon, our teenagers are getting their much needed sleep. Taking care of ourselves is taking care of others.

We are all in this together.
