A new year and infinite possibilities
by Jodie Emmert Mrotek
STA WIF Co-Chair

Happy New Year!

We hope that everyone's 2018 is off to a great start! As we kick off the new year here, the STA WIF Committee is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Ken Heath Award event taking place in Chicago on March 21, 2018. Last year’s inaugural event, held in New York City, was well received and we're looking forward to another great evening in Chicago as well. More information on Ken Heath, the March 21 event and how to nominate a worthy candidate can be found below.

This month we highlight Jodie Grenier, Executive Director at Foundation for Women Warriors . Jodie will be speaking at the Mid-Atlantic 83rd Mid-Winter Conference on the work she is doing for Women veterans. Thank you, MASTA Board for recognizing Ms. Grenier!

Also, I'd like to introduce Kate McAllister (ITG) as my 2018 Co-Chair of the STA Women in Finance Committee. Kate has been a strong presence on the committee since its inception, and I look forward to partnering with her and all of our committee members as we strive to make 2018 the best year for STA WIF yet!

Thank you for your continued support of STA WIF, and we look forward to seeing you in Chicago this March.

…I’m not being facetious about this one. I’m serious. Getting people to pay attention to their cognitive health, and getting people to take a cognitive test so they can get a baseline, is a big component of the work we do at my nonprofit,  The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement . I founded WAM to try and understand why Alzheimer’s discriminates against women and to help educate more people about what we can do starting today to save our minds and keep our brains healthy with age. Our attitude matters. But we need to temper our belief in the power of attitude with compassion and realism. Attitude can’t control everything and we can’t always control our attitude. Recognizing these limits will make it easier to be compassionate towards others as well as towards ourselves.   Article here
