The May Membership Meeting was packed with information from Ward 2 Councilmember Pinto and included questions from neighbors that spanned a wide area of local topics, including Comp Plan, Budget, Homelessness, 17th Street Bike Lane, and more.

The meeting marked the end of the term for the 2020 DCCA Board and DCCA said thank you (but not goodbye) to outgoing President, Glenn Engelmann, for his work leading the organization during a very challenging time. We also thanked Board Member Tim Norman for his committed efforts and his work with the Homelessness Committee.

Message from DCCA's New President |

Dear DCCA members and others in the Dupont community,
I am excited (with some trepidation) to be the new President of DCCA, after having served previously as
a Director, Secretary, and Treasurer. I hope I can live up to the able leadership of our previous
Presidents, Robin Diener and Glenn Engelmann, under whom I served on the Board.
I happily welcome new board members Britt Bepler, Joe Caruso, and Diane Quinn, and I’m glad we have
many seasoned board members returning, some in new roles: Charlie Ellis (1 st Vice President), Marcy
Logan (2 nd Vice President), Lance Salonia (Treasurer), Tom Reiter (Secretary), and Directors Phil Carney, Nick Manning, and Rebecca Martin. I thank Tim Norman for his all-virtual service on the board during the past year before he reluctantly moved out of Dupont. Past President Glenn Engelmann has
graciously volunteered to be an ex-officio member of the board, primarily to continue his leadership of
DCCA’s role in negotiating Settlement Agreements for liquor licenses, for which he has also enlisted the
help of DCCA member Kenlee Ray.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns about the neighborhood, ideas for membership
meeting programs, and any other thoughts about how DCCA can better serve the residents of Dupont.
We also welcome volunteers for our gardening activities, House Tour Committee, and other
committees.

The Mayor's May 10 Situational Update gives information on the positive trend in DC health metrics and details on reopening.
- On May 21, restrictions on public and commercial activity, including capacity limits, types of activities, and time restrictions, will be lifted. On June 11, capacity limits and restrictions will be lifted on remaining venues that cannot fully reopen on May 21.

Hope Floats: A Night of Storytelling |

As we begin to emerge from a year apart, human connection is more important than ever. Storytelling is one way to connect to each other and our deepest selves. Join us for a night of storytelling about hope, renewal and light. The show will be held in conjunction with the “ Les Colombes” exhibit at the Cathedral -- an uplifting display of 2,000 folded paper doves, inscribed with messages and prayers, flying through the Cathedral’s nave.

The new Southwest Library, located at 900 Wesley Place SW will reopen this Saturday, May 15. The new library blends with the mid-century modern architecture for which the neighborhood is know and includes environmental sustainability features, meeting and study rooms, outdoor spaces, and a focus on natural light.

A Platinum Anniversary for the Dupont Fountain |

The Dupont Fountain will celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Monday, May 17th. Organizers of the Dupont Festival will be working to highlight the anniversary by placing historic imagery on display and are encouraging neighbors to "swing by Dupont Circle Park for lunch or drop by after work" to pay tribute.
