Thank you for making this year's Summer Soiree our most successful fundraiser ever!
With your help, the Dallin Museum raised $23,000 to support museum programs, exhibit upgrades, and collections care for the coming year. We are so grateful!

Amidst the elegant backdrop of the historic Whittemore Robbins House, Soiree guests experienced the tastes, sights, and sounds of turn-of-the-century Paris.  Essex Catering served gourmet French-inspired hors d'oeuvres, and the dessert table featured a delicious assortment of mini viennoiserie from Paul Bakery and champagne cupcakes by Jackie Bates. Local musicians Ririka Tokushige, Somer O'Brien and Julie Perron performed iconic French standards. Many guests enjoyed having their portraits drawn by artists from Boston Caricature. Last but not least, Arlington Selectman Kevin Greeley's entertaining emceeing helped make our silent auction a big success!

Appeal to the Great Spirit during the Great New England Eclipse of 1932

The Great New England total eclipse of August 31, 1932 cut a diagonal swath from Montreal to Provincetown. Despite overcast conditions and Boston's location just outside the path of totality, Boston Herald photographer Herbert Stier captured Dallin's Appeal to the Great Spirit majestically presiding over this event. (The partially-obscured sun can be seen within the red circle.) The paper described the shadows captured in this photo as "weird and terrifying."
