HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN WARMED BY GIRLS' GIFTS
|
A group of caring and creative Rancho Romero Elementary students delivered 72 handmade scarves to
UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals' Walnut Creek Campus
last month. Medical staff, led by Director of Operations Lynne Lynn, RN, were on hand to receive the scarves on behalf of children hospitalized at the premiere medical facility whose focus is solely and entirely on children's health.
Team Unity members Ella, Ava, Sorella, Natasha, and Ava are ambassadors of Pledge to Humanity, a nonprofit that inspires children to serve and volunteer. The girls chose to make scarves to let young patients know that other children are thinking of them and to give them something warm and colorful that they could use in the hospital and take home after their stay.

CALICRAFT IS IN THE "BREWS"
|
The first known beer was called
kui
, brewed by the Ancient Chinese around 7000 BC, made from rice, honey, and fruit. Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia left behind ceramic vessels dating back to 3400 BC, still sticky with barley-based beer residue. Before 12th Chinese monks added wild hops to their brews, interesting varieties of herbs and spices were used to balance flavors such as spruce boughs, dried flowers, and bitter roots. Lucky for us, we have
Calicraft Brewing Company
, whose fresh, new releases come just in time for spring.

Look for Calicraft's
All or None Hazy IPA,
Space Fog Hazy IPA,
Chocolate Coffee Stout, Rosé Ale,
Sour Mango, and Sour Peach.
