Talking with Johan Meiring feels like talking to a saint. He has endless stories of miracles and quotes scripture constantly. In 2003, when noticing the hunger need all around him, he heard God speak Matthew 14:16, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." Johan began immediately, and for the past 23 years, Johan has devoted his life to feeding children in the kingdom of Lesotho and sharing the message of Jesus. To the 40 towns he regularly visits, he prays, reads the Word, preaches, and feeds. Before he connected with Outside the Bowl, it would take him all day to cook enough food for a village. When he saw VitaKidz for the first time, he knew he had to have it. After visiting the OTB VitaKidz factory in Paarl, South Africa, he became a life-long partner.
Outside the Bowl currently sends Johan enough VitaKidz to feed 750 children a day. Children eagerly line up to receive these meals and hear the message of hope in Jesus.
Recently Johan's brother passed away. To pay for funeral costs, Johan was forced to sell his truck. He now scrambles to borrow or rent vehicles to distribute the VitaKidz meals that we send him each month.
We would love to bless Johan with a used pickup for his ministry. A used Toyoya Hilux would be the perfect size for his ministry and would cost about $15,000. What an encouragement we could be to him to support his tireless efforts to feed the hungry in Africa.
