A special message from Pastor Don: Give Your Anxiety to Jesus
This presidential election has both demonstrated and, I think, increased the division and polarization of people in our country. This season has certainly been stress producing and anxiety causing. However, the Good News in I Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all our anxiety on him because he cares for us. The Greek word for cast is very descriptive. It’s the same word used to describe how the disciples threw their garments over the donkey Jesus would ride into Jerusalem (Luke 19:35).

Let’s do that with our anxiety today. If necessary, write your worries on a piece of paper, and then throw them away or leave them at the altar at church. Such a physical act symbolizes casting all our worries onto Jesus, and leaving them there. Then, be strong and courageous, and remember, “The Lord is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
Parables of Preparedness: A new sermon series starts Sunday
This Sunday, Pastor Don is kicking off a new sermon series, Parables of Preparedness. The first in this three-part series will examine the parable of the 10 virgins, which reminds us why we all need to live a life prepared for Jesus' return.
COVID Team Update: Sunday School on track for November 15
This week, the HFUMC COVID team convened to review our Sunday School relaunch timeline in view of the recent increase in COVID cases in Sumner County. At this time, the plan remains for all age-level classes desiring to resume in-person gatherings to begin on Sunday, November 15. The team will continue to monitor local conditions and advice from local healthcare providers, and more information about class offerings will be available next week.
