NSSA's A Special Night for our Special Kids at Adventureland
Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism (NSSA) is hosting a night of family fun at Adventureland in Farmingdale on Tuesday, April 23 from 7:30-10:30PM. The park will be closed to the public for this event, and individuals with autism, their families and friends will have unlimited access to the park. Learn more
Technology for Children with Special Needs
For children with special needs who are nonverbal, tablets and smartphones can become lifelines. With the ability to assist with communication, certain apps allow children to express wants and needs. For families as well, mobile technology helps them to receive support and stay connected with school during hospital stays. Read more
If you're having a hard time setting limits on screen time for your children, you might want to consider creating a personalized media calculator. This plan includes codes for everyday activities including sleep, meals, school, sports and screen time. It's customizable and color coded, so users can see how their time is spent. Read more.
