THANKSGIVING FOR PROJECT READ FAMILIES
Last week, Redwood City Public Library's Project READ, Redwood City Friends of Literacy, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley and a very generous donor once again teamed up to provide 100 Thanksgiving dinners (for 420 individuals) to our most in need families. We are immensely grateful to the anonymous tutor and donor who provided Thanksgiving for the learners and families of Project READ. This benefactor provided turkeys, hams, and many of the sides for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. After the meal distribution, families came back for pies to complete the celebration! This bounty was complemented by the beautiful, fresh produce and everyday staples of rice, milk, eggs and beans, provided by Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.

IT'S GIVING TUESDAY
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages generosity and giving back to your community. In the spirit of giving, today we are highlighting the organizations that support Redwood City Public Library. Perhaps you will be inspired to give to one or all?

The Friends of the Redwood City Public Library operates the resale bookstore located in the lobby of the Downtown Library. Proceeds from donations and the sale of books, music and movies at the store and at community events around the city are the source of funding for a wide array of wonderful library programs such as the upcoming Winter Reading Challenge, programs for children, teens, and adults, Discover and Go and so much more. The Friends also sell our RCPL Bees honey - the perfect holiday gift! For more information, visit: friendsofrwclibrary.org. Show your support by becoming a member here.

Since 1998 the Redwood City Library Foundation has raised over $3 million to provide funding for important library programs. The Foundation has funded initiatives such as the Redwood Shores Branch Library opening day collections, the Redwood Shores Branch Library Interpretive Center, Early Childhood Learning Centers in all our libraries, the Baby Bay play area in the Downtown Library, the teen homework center in the Downtown Library, and so much more. The Foundation is currently funding Career Online High School, Bridging the Digital Divide, and the soon to be open Makerspace in the Downtown Library. For more information, visit: www.rclfdn.org. Show your support by donating here.

Redwood City Friends of Literacy (RCFOL) is dedicated to promoting awareness, raising financial support and advocating for the intergenerational literacy services of Redwood City Project READ. Project READ’s programs are designed to break the cycle of illiteracy by surrounding adults and families with literacy services that promote education and a lifelong love of learning. Contributions support Project READ’s many programs. For more information, visit: www.projectreadredwoodcity.org. Show your support by donating here.
