Today, Holocaust education is a ray of hope

Associate, Holocaust Education

She's new!

I graduated from the University of Minnesota thinking I was going to take on the marketing world. One advertising job, one husband, three kids, and many years later, I found a new, more fulfilling calling.

When my grandmother passed away it became clear to me that my kids, although they had known her, would never hear her story of survival from her voice. The realization that I had to preserve my grandparents’ story for future generations was where my path to JCRC began.

At a time when Jewish voices are sometimes silenced, and Holocaust comparisons and distortions occur almost daily, working with teachers who are dedicated to bringing Holocaust speakers to their classrooms has given me hope.

Africa Night to Honor Israel Photo: Darrell Owens Photography

Building bridges between communities is an important part of our work, and one of the opportunities we look forward to every year is Africa Night to Honor and Stand With Israel. JCRC was honored to provide security for the event and speak in the program.

Thanks to Ebenezer Community Church for hosting this memorable night in collaboration with African Christians United for Israel & Christians United for Israel. As always, it's beautiful to come together in solidarity and connection with the African, Israeli, and Jewish American communities.

Education

Youth Fellowship for Jewish Identity and Leadership

JCRC has launched a Youth Fellowship for Jewish Identity and Leadership, a monthly program during the 2024-25 school year designed to empower Jewish high school juniors and seniors to explore and embrace their history, develop leadership skills, and cultivate a deep sense of pride in their Jewish identity.

Our first session was a success. 23 engaged and thoughtful teens broke the ice and embarked together into the roots and origins of Jewish identity. Through study, discussion and role play they have already began forming confidence as budding leaders.
