One thing we are often not involved in, but should be, is an evaluation of the existing subfloor in renovation projects. At a minimum, a description of the current state of the existing flooring and subfloor should be provided.
Why it matters
The condition of the subfloor plays a key role in the selection of the proper flooring system and installation requirements. The latter can vary, particularly if the subfloor is concrete and on-grade—which sometimes requires moisture tests to be done.
The Big Picture
If you’re planning a renovation, flooring can be overlooked in the preliminary discussions. To ensure a timely reno and avoid delays, bringing a flooring company in at the beginning of the process can be a money and time-saver.
