A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER
We continued to serve our participants this summer through programs (as you'll see below) and individual and family support. We also continue to distribute meals and groceries. To date, we've distributed over 16,000 meals, groceries for almost 1,800 families, and over $90,000 in gift cards to our participants.

You'll see below that we're also looking ahead to the fall. We will be expanding on what we've been able to do these past months.

Sometimes the most difficult times spark the most generous responses. We have seen this first hand, as so many have contributed to support the most vulnerable. We remain deeply grateful.
Executive Director
Reopening Mercy Center
We are planning for a careful and safe reopening of Mercy Center. We will make every effort to maintain a safe environment for participants, staff, and visitors.
We are finalizing our safety plan, focused on meeting all state requirements.
Summer Camp
Fifty children participated in this year's two-week summer camp, with two groups of 25 each participating for one week.

Trips to FDR State Park, Lake Compounce, Orchard Beach, Pelham Bay Park, and Maritime Aquarium provided outdoor group activities the children had been craving for months.
Summer ESOL Classes
We just completed a six-week summer session of online ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

Instructors continue to establish best practices for online learning. Students are not only improving their English language skills; they're also becoming more technologically savvy!
Mercy Center Flea Market
A stockpile of donations sparked the idea to hold a flea market for participants. Our garden/courtyard was transformed in preparation for excited "shoppers" to browse through the clothing, household items, books, and toys.
Fall 2020 Programs
While most of this fall's programs and activities will be online, we will have some onsite groups and individual meetings, all within safety guidelines. We are planning for an almost complete slate of programs!
This year's September 21st event will be held once again at Leewood Golf Club.
Golf Outing
We are happy to report we are proceeding with our annual Golf Outing! We hear that our golfers are anxious to get out for a socially-distanced game in support of Mercy Center.

Thank you, Anna!
We bid a very fond farewell to Anna Palmer, who was with us for a year through Mercy Volunteer Corp. Anna did everything from working with the After School and other children's programs to helping to organize our Thanksgiving Pantry and Christmas gifts program.

We will miss Anna's skills, talents, and warm presence. We wish her well!
Thank you for being part of the Mercy community!
