Sustaining our Community  for Future Generations

SO THANKFUL

The thanking season has begun, although we at YVSC are thankful every day, week and month for all the support we get from our community and beyond!

It's been a busy year at YVSC and with just one event left, we can finally sit back and take stock of all the accomplishments your support has helped us achieve!  It's overwhelming, and we're so grateful!  Look in our December newsletter for our year end video.

With gratitude,
Sarah Jones, Executive Director

Trees make GREAT gifts!

It's that time of year where we start selling the baby saplings for our 2015 ReTree Steamboat event!

We get a lot of stuff this time of year, but it's a warm, green, earth-lovin' feeling when someone helps reforests our beautiful backcountry in your name! Get our adorable kid-designed post card to mail with your tree gifts this year!

Trees are $2 each and can be purchased online now - visit our ReTree page to learn more.

Trees will be planted on June 7th, 2015!

A Day of Giving, December 9
Yampa Valley Gives Day & Colorado Gives Day

Colorado's largest one-day online giving event is coming up, and YVSC needs your support!

Colorado Gives Day is December 9 this year, and we are a proud partner of YampaValleyGives.org, an online giving platform where you can Give Where You Live!

Not only do your dollars stay local but every donation on December 9 also receives a boost from a statewide $1 million Incentive Fund from First Bank. (Every nonprofit receives a portion of the Incentive Fund based on how much they raise on Colorado Gives Day.) YVSC also has the chance to win local incentives and cash prizes from YampaValleyGives.org.

Last year, YVSC received $1,000 on Colorado Gives Day. This year, our goal is to raise $2,500. You don't need to wait until Colorado Gives Day to contribute! Click here to pre-schedule your donation for 12/9/14.

Your gift on Colorado Gives Day increases the value of every dollar you donate and helps us do more to create a resilient and sustainable community. Please donate now.

"Two Weeks to Take Charge" Energy Challenge

November 17-28, 2014

Since 2012 YVSC's Sustainable Schools program has partnered with school district and school-level leaders, educators, students and college students to implement the Take Charge Challenge as part of Energy Education. Formerly in February, the Challenge has been moved to November this year to encourage students to carry these new behaviors and best practices through the entire winter.

SAY NO TO CO2

IDLING SEASON IS UPON US!

Sure, it sounds silly when temps are sub zero, but sure enough, idling takes a toll on your car, your bank account, your health, and the environment!

>>1 minute of idling produces more carbon monoxide than 3 packs of cigarettes.

>>Depending on the size of your tank, you could be wasting $40-115 annually on idling.
