August and September 2019
Debbie Dadey's 130th newsletter
My husband full-filled his bucket list when we went to Israel this past month. It was exhausting and filled with 'wow' moments like taking a boat across the Sea of Galilee and visiting the Church of the Nativity. This olive tree in the Garden of Gethsemane is over 2000 years old! I even floated on the Dead Sea! It was very strange to be at the lowest point on earth and it was hot!!
Two things on my bucket list? I want to visit Oregon and Washington, two states I have yet to visit.

Are you scared yet? The new Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie looks very, very creepy! I have to admit I loved the new Downton Abbey movie, but my husband wasn't impressed!

Here's a tasty way to have fun with reading from Mrs. Beattie's blog.

I'll be on the road a bit in October to Ohio and northern Kentucky with school visits and an appearance at Books by the Bank. Lots of great authors will be there and I hope to see you too! It's Saturday, October 26, 2019 from
10 a.m.-4 p.m at the
Duke Energy Convention Center

The 13 th  Books by the Banks poster by Kevin Necessary features an enthusiastic group of readers crossing the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, and will be available for sale at the festival.

Have fun with these start of the school year stories.

At the East Tennessee Literacy Conference, Leah Daley showed me her well-loved collection of Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots, with four different covers. I was grateful to get a picture since I don't own all those covers!

My free Skype dates for next school year are Nov. 1st, March 23rd, and April 28th. If you're interested, let me know and we'll set up a time.

Another way to keep reading exciting is to write the author. Kids can write me and get a quick answer at KIDS TALK. I answer, usually the next morning, on DEBBIE TALKS.
If you're like me, you've already purchased a few holiday gifts and tucked them away. If you have a mermaid lover, this is an amazing gift: 10 mermaid books in a boxed set! I can send you autographed bookplates to make it even more special if you contact me here.
I'm all about making reading fun. Hope you and your young reader enjoy these:

I did it! Six months of Facebook Live sessions on writing are done. They are appropriate for any age or genre (type of book) so feel free to take a peek at the previous Writing Comes Alive videos here.
I was pretty nervous trying something new, but I'm glad I did. I think I got a bit better and if nothing else I got more comfortable with a new format. Here's to new things! I even had a new head shot taken. I asked about super-imposing Rachel Welch's face, but they cited some law.
