This Weekend at Christ Church
Fr. Michael on "Adversity"
A video message
We're all struggling with the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our "normal" lives. Fr. Michael has a message for the parish family as we work to cope with the circumstances we are dealing with - "isolating ourselves from family and friends...life is different, it's hard." Spend a few minutes for some inspiring words.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and persevere in prayer. Romans 12:12

Fireside Chat with Fr. Michael
Saturday, May 16 - 7:00 p.m. via Zoom
We want to cordially invite you to join Fr. Michael for his weekly  “Fireside Chat”  with Christ Church family and friends. We meet on  Saturday evenings from 7:00 –8:00 p.m. each week .

This Saturday's discussion will focus on - In what ways do we show our love for Christ our Lord? Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Of course, other topics are open for discussion. We hope you'll drop in for a chat.   Follow the link to attend.

Come to Church this Sunday!
Join fellow parishioners
We hope to "see" you at church this Sunday. If you tune-in online at 10:00 a.m. you may "attend" with other parishioners and "chat" during church - something you can't do at "real" church! Otherwise, the service will be recorded and you may watch it anytime after its conclusion.

Zoom into coffee hour afterwards. Feel free to come as you are - it will be great to see you!

You may access the video via the parish website which has the link to our YouTube channel. or via the buttons above.
Children's Chapel
Please join Charlette via Zoom for a 30 minute Children's worship service Sunday Mornings at 9:00 a.m. There will be music, we'll read the scripture and talk about it together. Older children are invited to be readers for this service. Everyone will be meeting on Zoom so that we can interact with one another and ask questions as we go. If you are new to Children's Chapel and want to join in please email Charlette and she'll send you an email reminder with the Zoom link.

Handling Stress...
From Fr. Michael
A hot-tempered person stirs up dissension, but a patient person calms a quarrel. Proverbs 15:18

In each and every day of life, we experience a great deal of stress, both positive and negative. Experts tell us that positive (e.g. EUSTRESS) is good for us. However, negative stress (e.g. DISTRESS), especially cumulative negative stress, creates in us a myriad of physical, spiritual, emotional, psychological, and relational problems.

Some of the warning signs of negative stress: Anger, short tempers, boiling over, hot tempers, conflict with co-workers, etc. Negative stress creates more and more stress until one day – we realize we are out of control. And when that happens, the most important thing we can do, is recognize the warning signs and act appropriately.

“Over the years your bodies become walking autobiographies, telling family, friends and strangers alike of the minor and major stresses of your lives.”
~ Marilyn Ferguson
A Pentecost Project
We are the church
In two week's time we will celebrate the feast of Pentecost . In year's past, that has meant a church filled with people dressed in red and a parish picnic. This year, we will celebrate a little differently , but it will be a celebration just the same!

As part of the celebration, Charlette is working on a slideshow for the worship service. Would you please take a photo or a video of you holding a sign that says, "We are the church!" and email it to formation@christchurchcoronado.org to be part of the slideshow? On the birthday of the church, it will be an important reminder that "The Church" is not the building... it is the people! All photo submissions must be in by Monday, May 25th at 5 p.m . Oh, and don't forget to wear your red!
Honoring Our High School Seniors
Graduation 2020
On June 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.  The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego will honor the High School Seniors in our diocese with a live streamed baccalaureate service. The service will be lead by Bishop Susan and feature youth readers, musicians, and a virtual procession of the graduates. In a time where so many of the rights of passage have been lost for these young adults, it is our goal to give them a vibrant celebration of both their achievements and their faith.

At Christ Church we are inviting not only the High School seniors in our congregations, but also grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives of parishioners who would like to participate.

There are four ways that youth are invited to participate in the baccalaureate service. Read more...
CCDS Art Show Comes to You

We're in luck though...great minds have come together to assemble a virtual presentation to share the amazing student creations with the parish and day school families. Mrs. Koshland and Mrs. Funk are hard at work as we speak so stay tuned for the Art Show link coming soon!
The Diocese and Beyond
Gospel of John if Jesus’ words were ‘live and over the internet’
From Episcopal News Service
Getting sick of using Zoom for most of your face-to-face human interaction? Jesus agrees with you. At least that’s the opinion of the Jesus in the Gospel of John  as updated for the coronavirus pandemic  by the Rev. Julie Hoplamazian , associate rector at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Manhattan, New York.

“I was banging my head against the wall trying to come up with a positive, inspiring message for the congregation,” Hoplamazian told ENS. When the lectionary offered her “dwelling places,” she began to think “Zoom rooms.” What resulted was a short video that served not only an effective piece of clerical procrastination but also a humorous etiquette lesson for gathering online.
“I wrote it all in one sitting. Maybe quarantine is getting to me,” she said.

On-line Parish Directory
Connect on Realm
Given our current circumstances the creation of a new paper Parish Directory has been difficult. Luckily, all parishioners already have a profile in our online directory through our church software Ream. If you have signed in and created a log-in and password, you know that you may access parishioner information there. If you haven't yet please take a moment to do so here or click the "sign in button above. Once you've accessed your profile you may manage your privacy settings and opt in or out of the online directory. Realm also provides you with 24/7 access to your contributions. If you have questions contact Christie Tugend for help.
Parish Communications
How are you connected?
We hope that you've joined the We Are Family - Christ Church Coronado Facebook group. This has been a great platform for parishioners to share, thoughts, photos, stories, words of encouragement, and more. If you aren't yet participating, go to We Are Family - Christ Church Coronado and request to join.

Additionally, we hope that you are connected to someone (or two) in the parish to make sure you're doing well. If you haven't received a phone call or email from a fellow parishioner recently and would like someone to contact you, please let us know.
