Join us for our Virtual Wags n' Whiskers Festival, a $5 microchip special and the last days of our Matching Donation Drive
Hello C.A.R.E.4Paws' supporters,

It sure has been a challenging year so far. We hope you're staying well!

Since we started C.A.R.E.4Paws in 2009, the demand for our services has grown significantly every year. In 2020, it is greater than ever. We remain committed to assisting animals and pet owners in need and are so grateful for the support for our September Pet Food & Matching Donation Drive. Your contributions of food, supplies and monetary gifts go a LONG way.

If you would like to make a donation, we have extended the match through this weekend. Don't miss the chance to help TWICE as many animals with pet food, critical mobile clinic services and more!

We're excited about the Virtual Wags n' Whiskers Festival, October 5 through 11, when we will promote adoptable pets from shelters and rescues throughout the Central Coast. We will also highlight our pawsome sponsors, who make the event possible, and invite pet owners to participate in Best in Show. More details below!

Last but not least, through October, we offer a $5 microchip special with our friends at Santa Barbara County Animal Services. Sadly, one out of three companion animals get lost in their lifetime, and a microchip can be that pet's only ticket back home.

Read on to learn more about what we're up to.

As always, thank you for all that you do. Stay well and stay pawsitive!

A chip campaign to ensure lost pets return home
Every two seconds, a four-legged family companion is lost. Sadly, many pets never return home because of lack of identification. This is why we're partnering with Santa Barbara County Animal Services for a $5 microchip campaign this month. A microchip can reduce a pet’s shelter stay dramatically or prevent animals from ending up homeless altogether. In October, we provide $5 microchips at all of our regular Tuesday-through-Friday clinics plus at four Sunday events countywide, the first one taking place October 4 at Lompoc’s Ryon Park. Click for all clinic dates.
The virtual Wags n' Whiskers promotes adoptable pets
This year, C.A.R.E.4Paws' celebrated Wags n' Whiskers Festival will be a weeklong virtual event, October 5 through 11. We promote adoptable pets from Central Coast shelters and rescues at care4paws.org/adopt as well as on Facebook and Instagram. We also highlight our generous festival sponsors and invite pet owners to participate in Best in Show by posting photos and videos of their pets' favorite outfits or top talents and tagging us: @care4paws.org and #wagsnwhiskers2020

A fantastic Pet Food & Matching Donation Drive
Through September, the community stepped up in a beautiful way to support our Pet Food & Matching Donation Drive. Not only did we receive several tons of pet food and supplies, but funds up to $10,000 have been matched, dollar for dollar. We are about $1,000 short of meeting our goal and so we have extended the match through Sunday, October 4. Click to double your gift and help TWICE as many animals in need.

We thank our donors and also our fabulous business partners, who have housed donation drop-off stations for us. This includes Dioji K-9 Resort & Athletic Club, Plaza Deli in La Cumbre Plaza, all Lemos Feed & Pet Supply stores, Montecito Pet Shop, Healthy Pet, La Cumbre Feed, DAWG & Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society, and Advanced Veterinary Specialists.
Our clinic is on a roll!
The need for our mobile pet wellness services is tremendous right now. We're running our clinic five days per week to curb pet overpopulation and make sure animals don't suffer or end up in shelters due to lack of access to medical care.

As of September 30, we've already performed more than 1,450 spay/neuter surgeries, compared to 1,300 surgeries in all of 2019. That includes 1,000 surgeries since the start of the pandemic. We have also assisted 1,300 dogs and cats with medical care—compared to 1,100 pets last year.

We love collaborations! On September 20, our mobile clinic crew and the vet team from Santa Barbara County Animal Services altered 38 cats at the Santa Maria county shelter as part of our joint "Beat the Heat" promotion. We also helped 50-plus pets with vaccines and other services.
C.A.R.E.4Paws in the news
We have received great press coverage lately in the Santa Maria Sun, on KSBY, on NPR and in the Santa Maria Times, Santa Ynez Times Times and Lompoc Record, to name a few news outlets. Find all of the great stories and videos here.
