We are excited to say that on Saturday, Diocesan Synod will be considering the draft Diocesan Strategy.
Having identified the challenges we face as a Diocese, we ran a series of consultations (online, through surveys and in person) that were focused on solutions.
We met with a wide-range of people from our four different contexts of ministry (Rural, Small Towns, Large Coastal Towns and the City of Norwich) including: Bishop’s Council of Trustees, Bishop’s Staff, Deanery Synods and Chapters, Rural Deans, Deanery Lay Chairs, 20 key missional incumbents, other small groups, with individuals and the Parish Support Team.
We had over 700 ideas offered in our responses.
The aim of the resulting strategy is to see our vision of Norfolk and Waveney Transformed by Christ realised. We believe that, as Jesus Christs transforms us, he involves us in the transformation of others, our communities, and our world. Transformed hearts, transform hearts. Transformed communities, transform communities.
At the heart of the Strategy are four key focus areas:
-
A Missional Vision and Culture through inspiring disciples and church communities to witness boldly and live faithfully.
-
Hope-filled Clergy and Lay Leaders who are empowered, supported and equipped to lead in mission with creativity and courage.
-
Communities of Disciples Forming Thriving Churches who are enabled through partnership to be able to show active love and deep commitment in every context.
-
Growing congregations, Younger and more Diverse through building energy with investment in specific places and encouraging church communities to try new things.
Please pray for the work of Synod on Saturday in scrutinising the Strategy -
please continue to pray for the various congregations all across Norfolk and Waveney as they strive to be the Body of Christ - and do click on the 3 minute video to hear Bishop Graham explaining how the Strategy builds on the Diocesan Vision: Transformed by Christ, Prayerful, Pastoral, Prophetic.
