A few lazy, hazy (and wet!) days of summer remain. Enjoy the farmers market and backyard bounties, take some time to explore a neighborhood shop and stay safe as we round another Dupont Summer. Our next semi-monthly eblast will follow the Labor Day holiday - we hope you all find time to enjoy the celebration of Summer's end.

DCCA Members will be happy to hear that our monthly meetings will resume in October. We will determine when we can safely resume them in person.

The redesign of 17th Street in the East Dupont central business district continues to be a hot topic in Dupont. The project is still under construction, and DCCA will continue to engage with DDOT on our concerns about problems the redesign has created. Read our previous correspondence about 17th Street here.

August's Featured Home 1749 S Street - Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes was an African American writer whose poems, columns, novels, and plays made him a leading figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. In 1925, Hughes was working as a busboy in a Washington, D.C. hotel restaurant when he met American poet, Vachel Lindsay. Hughes showed some of his poems to Lindsay, who was impressed enough to use his connections to promote Hughes’ poetry and ultimately bring it to a wider audience.

This month's house feature is in video format shared by our local fav, neighbor, member and friend, The History Hat! Click HERE to take the DCCA tour!
