Implementing the A2ZERO Carbon Neutrality Plan: Electrification & Energy Transition Across Washtenaw County
Washtenaw County has set the goal of achieving operational carbon neutrality by 2030. The County’s Energy Transition strategy advances Washtenaw County’s efforts to achieve carbon-neutral, resilient operations. The Solar Prioritization Project evaluated county facilities for on-site solar and battery storage, creating a roadmap for future renewable energy installations. In addition, the ClearPath 2.0 update transformed the 2019 emissions inventory into a dynamic planning tool, allowing staff to track trends, evaluate climate actions, and make data-driven decisions. Together, these initiatives strengthen the County’s capacity to deploy renewable energy and monitor progress toward its low-carbon goals.
