The FBI is warning that USB thumb drives are being mailed by cybercriminals in an attempt to lure recipients into plugging them into their computers and installing ransomware. Two different schemes are being seen:
- The first contains a package that appears to come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that reportedly contains information on current pandemic guidelines.
- The second comes as an Amazon gift box which contains a thank you letter, USB and counterfeit gift card.
Both packages contain USBs that when connected to a computer will send pre-configured commands that download malicious software.

Unfortunately people turned to Alex Miller Credit Repair and ended up in worse financial shape than when they began. A Justice Department lawsuit alleges that the company formerly known as Turbo Solutions, Incorporated and its owner have scammed people out of more than $10.1 million through the credit repair scheme. The DOJ alleges the company claims to remove negative items, like collection accounts, from people's credit reports and boost their credit scores. The claims were false and misleading. People didn't see any improvements in their credit, despite paying $1,500 in upfront fees. Such fees are illegal for credit repair companies to collect. Legitimate companies can't remove accurately reported information from your credit report.
