NEW FARM FOOD 360 VIDEOS SHOWCASED AT THE ROYAL

The latest FarmFood360 projects will be debuting at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair!

Egg Farmers of Ontario and Sheep Farmers of Ontario have completed their filming and are excited to showcase their farms.

Through an investment in its strategic initiatives fund, the AAC is providing support to two of its members to develop 360 tours showcasing their industries.

Join us at the Royal Winter Fair an immerse yourself in Canadian farm and food tours, from egg processing facilities to sheep farms, you'll navigate this experience in 360 degrees using VR technology.

Farm and Food Care Ontario Booth is located in the Discovery Zone and will be there for the duration of the show.

RESEARCHERS SEEKING PARTICIPANTS FOR AGRI-TECH STUDY

Can new technologies help small-scale farming? Drive the future of farming by sharing your ideas in an academic survey. McKenzie Huneke, a PhD Candidate in Sustainability Management at University of Waterloo is conducting a study exploring emerging technologies targeting small-scale and family farms.

The purpose of this research is to explore opportunities for precision agriculture (PA) technology adoption and design innovations targeting family, unconventional (organic, regenerative, biodynamic, conservation agriculture, polyculture, or intercrop), and/or other types of labour-intensive agricultural enterprises in Ontario, Canada.

The survey will remain open for farmers to participate until the end of Nov 2024. Analysis will take place between December 2024 and January 2025, and the final report is targeted to publish for April 2025.

AAC CURRENTLY OPEN PROGRAMS

Veterinary Incentive Program

Veterinary Incentive Program provides grants for newly licensed veterinarians who practice on food animals in underserviced areas of Ontario. The $5 million program provides eligible veterinarians with up to $50,000 in grant payments.

Applicants must apply to the Program and request funding using the Application Form found online at www.adaptcouncil.org/program/vip. Completed Application Forms are received on a continuous basis.

The Veterinary Incentive Program is funded by the Government of Ontario to provide grants for Newly Licensed Veterinarians who practice on Food Animals in Underserviced Areas of Ontario. The Agricultural Adaptation Council is delivering the Program on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

Our October member spotlight is the Veal Farmers of Ontario and their upcoming Healthy Calf Conference!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Healthy Calf Conference. For two decades, Veal Farmers of Ontario has brought together dairy, veal and dairy-beef calf raisers to a single event dedicated to boosting calf health – which in turn means healthier animals, lower production costs and higher market prices.

AAC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Attention AAC members, mark your calendars for our upcoming AGM!

The AAC’s 29th AGM will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Guelph at the Delta Hotel and Conference Centre. In additional to the regular business session, this event is an opportunity to reflect on the AAC’s highlights of the year, discuss future plans and engage with fellow members of the industry.

This year’s theme will be agri-food innovation. A panel discussion will delve into current innovation trends and opportunities facing the agri-food industry including speakers representing primary agriculture, food processing and agri-business.

The event includes networking opportunities with representatives of AAC’s 55 member organizations, along with invited guests from the broader agri-food sector, program funders and government ministry officials.

Earlier this month, AAC staff convened in person for our quarterly townhall--an opportunity to learn, engage and celebrate success. This was followed by a team building activity at Play with Clay in Guelph where we cultivated our artistic talents.
