AACC Department of Public Safety and Police Receives Accreditation
The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the leading authority for campus public safety, gave a unanimous recommendation to re-accredit the AACC Department of Public Safety and Police. In October, the IACLEA assessment team, composed of experienced campus law enforcement professionals from out of state, performed an on-site assessment. They examined all aspects of the department’s policies and procedures, management, operation and support services, along with requesting public comments. The report stated "Assessors found the Anne Arundel Community College Police Department to be a dedicated team of campus law enforcement and public safety professionals. It was clear the safety and security of students, faculty and staff is at the forefront of their mission." This was a voluntary process. The department received initial accreditation in 2008, then reaccreditation in 2011 and 2014.

Kudos to: Lynn Tracey
You may know Chemistry Professor Lynn Tracey as, well, a chemistry professor. What you might not know is she was also a member of the Howard High School volleyball team of 1980, which became the first county team to win the volleyball state championship. Last weekend she was inducted into the Howard County Women’s Athletics Hall of Fame with the rest of the team. “The year before we were the first county team to ever get to the state championship. We lost every game in that tournament, but came back strong the following year, going undefeated in the regular season," she said. There’s a little bit about their experience at the end of this

What do you do?
I collaborate with college leadership to ensure the institution adheres to federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding our students who entrust us with their education and employees who carry out our mission.
Time at AACC:
Less than three months!
One random thing about you:
I am on a quest to visit all 50 states before I turn age 50. I’m so close! Only North Dakota and South Dakota to go! I love to travel, but I’m also a new mom to an amazing almost 9 month old baby girl named AJ (Allison Joan). Needless to say, she has put my love of travel on the back burner for now! I also love live music, particularly the heartfelt folk/America genre. If anyone else likes that genre, they should check out my friend Liz Longley, who is amazing, based in Nashville and tours around our area regularly.
