Gonioscopy
Gonioscopy is a simple procedure that yields huge findings yet is greatly underutilized in the optometric community as a whole, in my opinion.
There are a number of different gonioprisms on the market, ranging from disposable to with/without handles. They all basically do the same thing; enable you to visualize the structures of the anterior chamber.
This information is critical in the examination of every glaucoma patient, primary or secondary, not to mention its importance with certain systemic diseases. With technology advancements, there are instruments that can help gauge the angle without the use of gonioscopy but majority of us don’t own them. I still prefer to actually visualizing the structures.
The internet is a huge resource if you need to brush up on your skills, gonioscopy.org is a great website with pictures, videos and case reports.

This multi million dollar racing horse suffered a very bad corneal rupture caused by a kick in the eye by another horse. The horse went blind in this eye as a result and could not return to racing.
