Greetings, CYP Friends!
March was an unforgettable month! We kicked things off at the Everglades Youth Conservation Center for Camp Treasure, where you enjoyed archery, fishing, canoeing, a picnic, and a special mobility presentation on properly caring for individuals using wheelchairs or canes. What an experience!
Later in the month, we hosted our annual Caregiving Youth Action Day, bringing together Caregiving Youth from across the country to connect and share experiences.
Juniors and Seniors, in partnership with Florida Atlantic University, your Pathway to Success Workshop at their campus was truly inspiring! You received funds for professional attire, a complimentary headshot, a sip & paint activity, a dorm tour, a complimentary laptop to support your journey ahead, and more!
We ended the month, in partnership with Manipura Care Network, with the Poetry Art Workshop, where your words met your art!
What a month of growth, learning, and opportunity!
Don't forget to check out your event photos on our Instagram @caregivingyouthproject! Be sure to keep an eye out for more upcoming activities as well.
Thank you.

Meet Challenge: A Caring and Strong 6th Grader
"Challenge Boswell is a smart, kind, creative, and strong 6th grader at Lake Shore Middle School. He has been through many tough times, including the loss of his mother to cancer. He lives in a rural area of Palm Beach County that doesn’t always get the attention or support it needs.
Challenge helps care for his younger brother, who has a leg injury and needs extra support. Even with all of his responsibilities, Challenge stays positive and full of joy.
He has shared how thankful he is for AACY and was very excited to attend Camp Treasure!" - Evelyn Loud, Family Specialist - North
Keep being awesome, Challenge!
| | Some of you might be taking care of someone with a disability—even if it’s not something others can see. This is a reminder that not all challenges are visible. Whether you’re helping a family member who uses a wheelchair or one who looks “fine” but still needs care, what you do matters. Be proud of the support you give. | | | Caregiving Youth Included in National PBS Documentary | |
We’re excited to share that Caregiving, a new PBS documentary executive produced by Bradley Cooper, will include Caregiving Youth in its national spotlight on caregiving in America.
The film tells the real stories of caregivers across the country—including Jacob, a 14-year-old member of our Caregiving Youth Project, who shares caregiving responsibilities for his mom alongside his dad. This is a big moment, because it’s one of the first national documentaries to show that millions of kids and teens in the U.S. are also caregivers.
AACY was proud to work with the team behind the film to help ensure that Caregiving Youth were seen and included. It’s a big step forward in helping more people understand that caregiving isn’t just something adults do—young people do it too, every day.
The film airs June 24 on PBS, with early streaming starting May 27. You can watch the trailer on YouTube here!

| | | Caregiving Youth in the News | |
A high school in Atlanta is working to support students who help care for family members—and it was featured in a recent article by Allen Siegler from Capital B News.
AACY wasn’t part of creating this story—and that’s actually a good thing. It shows that more people are starting to notice Caregiving Youth and the challenges they face. When more people understand what it’s like to grow up with caregiving responsibilities, it helps bring more support, awareness, and change.
