Thank you Florida Panthers Foundation for your continued support of the Caregiving Youth project. We appreciate Stanley C. Panther and the ROAR Corps for coming to the Bowling into Leap Year event and spreading Panther Pride.

Thank you Strikes@boca for host and providing food and prizes to the caregiving youth in attendance. The students had a chance to go to the arcade, bowl, play games, enjoy suprises and prizes all the while getting so much deserved respite and time to feel like a kid.
 
Impact 100 Palm Beach County announces semi-finalists for 2020 awards at The Residences at Mandarin Oriental. AACY is honored to one.

Nonprofits in five different focus areas will present their projects to members who will vote on the winners. The winning nonprofits take home $100,000 grants to fulfill their project pitches. 
 
Impact 100 Palm Beach County began 9 years ago. It is a women's organization to funds local nonprofit initiatives. There are over 500 members who donate $1,000 annually, pool all funds and vote to award grants to nonprofits serving southern Palm Beach County in five focus areas: Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation; Education; Environment and Animal Welfare; Family; and Health and Wellness. Since its inception, the chapter has awarded more than $3.3 million in grants.

Transforming the Lives of Caregiving Youth

 Here is what the Family Specialist are doing for AACY caregiving youth:
1. Checking in with families and providing current COVID 19 information.
2. Facilitating the process for caregiving youth to get laptops and internet from their schools to begin distance learning.
3. Making sure families know the food distribution sites and delivering food for those lacking transportation.
4. Using tele-health to continue individual counseling and new strategies for managing stress.
5. Developing a tele-group model to provide ongoing Skills Building.
6. Creating activities to provide some fun and relief.
7. Offering linkages while sharing new resources and options to meet the unmet needs of families.
8. Continuing with respite care.

Legislative News
Help from Tallahassee.
   
State Rep. Mike Caruso and State Sen. Lori Berman both sponsored a $250,000 appropriation request to begin a pilot Caregiving Youth Project expansion program in two Florida counties. The legislative session resently ended and we are happy to report that the appropriation request made it into the budget.
 
AACY is extremely thankful to our representatives that really prioritized and directed their resources for caregiving youth in their "ask" to the Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis. State Rep. Mike Caruso and State Sen. Lori Berman are leading the State of Florida in being the role model of recognizing youth caregivers.
