Cheryl Fossler & Terry Kellum are winners of Arkansas Agriculture Department's first quarterly efficiency suggestion awards. Submissions from the two could save $11,589 in FY2017.
Agriculture Secretary Ward participated in a meeting with Governor Hutchinson, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, and Attorney General Rutledge about the future of WOTUS during Pruitt's state-to-state tour.
Arkansas interns, hired through the Southern United States Trade Association and overseen by AAD Marketing Director Christian Olsen (pictured), worked through the summer to contact Arkansas businesses about international business/marketing opportunities for Arkansas products. Governor Hutchinson (also pictured) and Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward offered appreciation for their efforts.

Arkansas Farmers Market Week is August 6-12 - part of a nationwide effort to highlight the important role farms and farmers markets play in communities.

There are 3.5 times as many U.S. farmers over the age of 65 as there are under 35. Farmers markets provide one of the only low-barrier entry points for new farmers, ranchers, and food entrepreneurs allowing them to start small and test new products.
