November Update
Hello AADO members,

Many of us can identify with feeling overwhelmed these days. How do we reconnect with the world and find that good old joy and inspiration – that feeling we once had? By forgiving ourselves for not being whom we think the world expects us to be. We are usually much harder on ourselves than others and can often be our own worst enemy. During difficult times we will say negative things to ourselves that can get in the way of our own success.

Following are tips that help me stay focused and positive:

1.     Do not worry about being perfect, it’s perfectly okay to make mistakes.
2.     Learn to be resilient in the face of disappointment. You will bounce back – promise!
3.     Accept yourself, faults and all. Self-love is a good thing.
4.     Let others hear your big ideas, they will be excited about your hopes and dreams.
5.     Let criticism inspire you. Just wait until your critics see what you do next!
6.     Never underestimate your talent.
7.     Surround yourself with people who want you to be successful and you will be.

I encourage everyone to be forgiving of yourself and let go of the notion that you must be perfect.

Hero Women Rising uses education and technology to empower women and girls in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. By amplifying women's voices, giving them tools to develop sustainable livelihoods, and teaching them to advocate for their rights, we aim to improve gender equality and women's quality of life in DRC. We envision a peaceful and prosperous Congo, where women have equal access to meaningful decision-making all levels and are empowered to contribute to society according to their own inspiration.

AADO is actively working to increase diversity in the fundraising profession by bringing in 1,000 new professionals of color over the next 8-10 years. These organizations are making an effort to reach out to diverse individuals by posting their available positions on the AADO website. They are demonstrating that they truly care about increasing diversity within their organizations and the profession and AADO is extremely grateful.
