AADO
UPDATE
Happy New Year!

This is year 21 of the AADO Network. I can hardly believe that we are now 1,500 members strong from all over the US and now Canada – AMAZING!! I recently found the list of the first group who gathered in 1999 and there were 47 emails. After reviewing the list I counted several who have passed away and many who have retired or left the profession. There are a handful who are still involved. We’ve come a long long way. Thank you for being a part of AADO – whether at the beginning, the middle, or just joining – you are important to the AADO Network and the fundraising profession.

I want to start the year off on the topic of health. Back in August I made a promise to myself, my family, and my coworkers that I would begin a journey of exercising and making better eating choices. I’m excited to share with you that I have lost 35 pounds. And I’ve gone from walking less than 3,000 steps a day, on average, to over 10,000 steps or more every single day!!

As fundraisers we are so busy working, traveling, and sitting in endless meetings. We take very little time for ourselves. We don’t stop and take a deep breath. Drink some water or grab an apple instead of a candy bar. I can tell you that without a doubt my life has changed. I park further from the door rather than drive around for 15 minutes looking for the closest parking space. I prepare my lunch in advance and when going out to eat I check the menu of the restaurant in order to select the healthiest option before I get there and am tempted to give in to the worst option loaded with calories.

I’d love to know what you are doing to live a healthier lifestyle or to know what your challenges are that keep you from feeling better. Follow the link to the AADO Forum – https://www.aadonetwork.com/aado-discussion

Female fundraisers represent at least 70 percent of the fundraising profession, but account for just 30 percent of senior positions. One way to change the imbalance and advance women: mentoring and leadership development. Nominate yourself to become a mentor or mentee, and listen to Leah Eustace, CFRE, ACFRE, discuss the importance of mentorship.

AADO is excited to announce the Executive Recruitment
Pre-Screening Program.

Working in partnership with organizations, institutions of higher education, and search firms, AADO will assist in the process of vetting potential candidates for senior level
fundraising positions.

The goal is to ensure that AADO members are treated justly and with respect throughout the recruiting process, and are considered viable candidates and not simply numbers in the candidate pool. This exciting initiative is in its early stages and will be refined as it grows. If you are interested in being added to the database, please follow the link to complete the form.
The information you provide will be treated as confidential and will not be shared without your expressed permission. Email questions to:  [email protected]
