A Message From Our President
Melanie Dunn
2019-2020 AAF Toledo President
Happy New Year! Well, AAF New Year at least. Our awesome club, dedicated to serving the great advertisers and marketers of our area, turned 110 this year.

I am honored to be serving you as President for our 2019-2020 membership year. It seems like only yesterday I was attending my first ADDY awards, nervously waiting in the car until I saw one of the maybe 3 people that I knew. Now, almost a decade later, I can genuinely say this club has impacted my life in very meaningful ways. In the time I’ve been involved, I’ve made valuable connections which have grown my career. Unexpectedly, I’ve also built friendships with some of my favorite people (special shout out to my GNO ladies!).

To those of you who are just getting started in the industry , know that AAF truly can accelerate your career. Get out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to those around you at events. Join a committee and let people see your talent and work ethic for themselves. Whatever you put into your membership, you will get back.
To our members who have “been around” and are where they want to be, remember to send the elevator back down. Your knowledge is invaluable and anytime you share it or your talents, you improve our club and add value to our network. There is always room to learn, grow and sometimes just have a good time with fellow advertising professionals.

This will be a defining year for our organization, as we say “see you around” to our director of 17 years, Patty Schoepf. She was the backbone of our club and we’ll truly miss her hard work and expertise. We, the Board, will strive to keep this transition smooth and are here to answer any questions you may have regarding membership, events and sponsorship.

Get your teams together for our most participated social event,  AdBASH . On Thursday, August 8, we will be at the sand courts downtown at The Docks for our annual volleyball tournament. Food, water, and t-shirts are included with registration and we will have a cash bar. Don’t forget we also award a trophy to the Best Dressed team-Get creative! There are still sponsorship opportunities available, please contact us if you’re interested.

Register now for our second annual Mosaic Seminar, "Building a D&I Strategy for D&I Success" featuring Keynote Speaker Margarita De Leon. Attendees will enjoy a continental breakfast in the Toledo Zoo’s recently renovated Great Hall within its Museum of Science. Sponsorship packages are still available. Learn more on our website.
I look forward to serving as your AAF Toledo President and hope you will join me at one or more of our many events this year!

The President's Award Goes To ...
Every year, at the end of their term, the club president may give the President's Award to a person or business for their contribution to the club. This year, Ryan Hall presented two awards:
Kelly Hahn owns and manages her business, Uppercase Designs. She joined our Board of Governors this past year and has been a huge asset to our club in multiple ways. Kelly has been involved with numerous committees and has designed many of our promotional materials throughout the year. She is a very strong person who is ready to step up and take on any challenges she is faced with. We are very happy to have her serve on the Board of Governors alongside many other determined and productive individuals. Thank you, Kelly, for your continued hard work for the club!
Patty Schoepf has been the Executive Director for AAF Toledo for 17 years. During this time, she managed the entire organization and helped to put on all of our events throughout the years. I know I am speaking for everyone on the board, and everyone who has ever been involved with the club, when I say that we are extremely fortunate to have had Patty serve as our Executive Director. We would not have been able to do all of the fun and informative events throughout the years without her service. Thank you so much, Patty! We will miss you dearly!
