Individuals over 55 years old can get free tax preparation assistance from Feb. 1 to April 15 at Wauconda Area Library.
Volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Foundation Tax-Aide will meet one-on-one with people needing tax preparation help by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the library's Reading Room.
AARP strives to assist people who are over 55 years old and low- to moderate-income taxpayers. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers are trained to help people file certain tax forms and schedules, including Form 1040. If counselors feel a return is too complex, individuals may need to seek tax assistance elsewhere.
Call the library’s Adult Help Desk at 847-526-6225, ext. 203, to schedule an appointment.
