2025 AAUW Marin Silent Auction

A Fundraiser to Benefit the AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund

Dear Members,

Again this year the Marin branch will have a silent auction to raise money for the AAUW Marin Scholarship Fund our 501(c)(3) organization which grants:

Scholarships and awards to students at Dominican University and College of Marin,
Sponsorships for 7th grade Marin girls to attend Tech Trek, AAUW of California's summer residential STEM camp, and
Sponsorships for local college women to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) founded by AAUW.

Proceeds from the auction, along with your monetary contributions and corporate grants, fund these local programs. Our awards totaled more than $27,000 last year and we hope to beat that total this year!

You can help make the auction a success. The Auction Committee is seeking donations for the auction which will include both online (Bidding Owl) and in person bidding as well as items for purchase at the Holiday Luncheon on December 6.

These are the types of items we seek.

Gift Certificates for Restaurants, Shops, Services, Activities, Tickets, etc.

Gift cards and certificates are our best sellers, often selling for above value. Let's try to cover the whole county this year!

Please let Leslie Zimring know which merchants you plan to ask to donate in order to avoid duplication of effort. She will email you a flyer and customizable donor letter. Contact Leslie at lzimring33@gmail.com.

Gift Baskets

They make great gifts! If you have an idea and a few items for a gift basket we provide the basket, packing material, and wrapping decor, and may be able to add to the contents. Contact Ann Thomas at athomas1@pacbell.net or 415-924-9559.

Jewelry

We will have jewelry items for bid the day of our luncheon as we have found that people want to try on before bidding. If you have nice jewelry items valued at $50 or more that you would like to donate, contact Mary Mossteller at mcmossteller@mac.com or send her a picture of the item and she can price it.

Experiences

Why not create an experience? Previous member-created experiences include a nature hike, dessert delivered 3 times a year, mahjong lessons, and last year's Board's Mardi Gras party for 10. Contact Nancy Lubamersky at nancylubamersky@gmail.com with your ideas.

Other Unique Items

If you have an item that you think might be appropriate for the auction, check with Dottie Burk at dotburk20@gmail.com or 415-328-8592.

Homemade or Other Small Gift Items

These items will be sold onsite at the Holiday Luncheon. Think about lower priced gift ideas, $10 - $25 each. Food items such as jams, baked goods, and soup mixes have been particularly popular in the past. Contact Pauline Nacamuli with your ideas at pnacamuli@gmail.com or 415-450-0582.

If you have an idea for a donation or need an idea, please contact the auction committee member listed. All offers are welcomed and appreciated, but we regret that, to maximize our time and profits, we cannot accept everything.

Deadline

The Bidding Owl auction site will be open for bidding from November 28 to December 6. We request donations and/or commitments as soon as possible, with a final deadline of Wednesday November 20.
