AAVMC Names 2025 Chewy Veterinary Leaders Cohort, Awards $300,000 in Scholarship Funds


AAVMC, in partnership with Chewy Health, is excited to announce the 2025 Chewy Veterinary Leaders Cohort. This innovative program combines financial assistance, professional development resources, and mentorship opportunities to empower underrepresented veterinary students to thrive as future leaders in their field.

AAVMC Highlights 2025 Merck Animal Health and Patricia M. Lowrie Diversity Leadership Scholarship Winners

AAVMC has awarded $166,000 in scholarships to students enrolled at AAVMC Member Institutions. These scholarships support AAVMC’s mission to inspire innovation and promote excellence in academic veterinary medicine worldwide.


The Merck Animal Health Diversity Leadership Scholarship recognizes 16 students who contribute to enhancing diversity and inclusion at AAVMC Member Institutions. Each recipient was nominated by the dean of their respective institutions and will be awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds. These scholarships, sponsored by Merck Animal Health, total $160,000. 


The Patricia M. Lowrie Diversity Leadership Scholarship recipient is selected from the Merck Animal Health Diversity Leadership Scholarship winners. This year, it was awarded to Sergio Acuna, a student at Cornell University. Acuna will be issued a one-time payment in the amount of $6,000, bringing his total scholarship funds to $16,000.

FFAR Veterinary Student Research Fellowship is open for applications through February 26


The 2025 FFAR Vet Fellows program is providing a $16,000 stipend for up to 15 students to perform research on topics including, but not limited to: agricultural economics; nutritional security and food access; environmental sustainability of agriculture; advanced technologies; zoonotic diseases and pandemic prevention; and antimicrobial stewardship.


The program is accepting applications for the 2025 cohort through February 26, 2025. Learn more here.

Wellbeing

This 16-week course consists of asynchronous and synchronous programming, approximately 2 hours per week. 


Apply by January 19, 2025.
