AB 478 and AB 631 both pass the Senate Business and Professions Committee with Unanimous Votes!

Today's successful outcomes could not have been accomplished without our strong authors and their incredibly hardworking, professional, and diligent staff.

AB 478 (Zbur), the FOUND Act, passed the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee today with a final vote of 11 to 0. Watch the AB 478 hearing above. Thank you to Senator Ashby and the other members of the committee for their support for this lifesaving bill.

The bill will next be voted on in the Senate Appropriations Committee, then to the Senate Floor, and then to the Governor's desk for signature into law. Please stay with us; we will need your strong support all along the way.

AB 478 will ensure that pet parents can rescue their animals left behind in evacuated areas. This bill responds to the inadequate action taken for residents in the LA Fire zones who had animals in the evacuation areas and had to either sneak in to save their

pets or rely on animal rescuers to do so.

AB 478 also directs cities and counties to establish a designated hotline for residents who need help evacuating with their animals or rescuing their pets once evacuated. Additionally, it ensures that animals rescued from evacuated areas are tracked

and kept in the area for at least 30 days, giving their owners sufficient time to retrieve them.

AB 631 (Lee) passes the Senate Business and Professions Committee today with a Unanimous Vote.

AB 631 (Lee), received unanimous support from the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee today, with a final vote of 11 to 0. Please watch the AB 631 hearing above. We express our gratitude to Senator Ashby and the committee members for their understanding of the amendments we took and their unwavering support, despite the misleading opposition to the bill.

Understanding the scope of a problem and establishing metrics to measure progress when implementing potential solutions are crucial for problem-solving. This data is particularly important in this regard. We are incredibly grateful to the many individuals who have supported the bill.

AB 631 will follow the same trajectory as AB 478. The next steps involve the Senate Appropriations Committee, the Senate Floor, and ultimately, the Governor’s desk for signature.
