Message from the Chair and President/CEO

Dear Members: Happy Spring! We are excited to share this ABC RMC update with you along with a preview of our plans for 2022.
Member Survey - Last fall we sent a member satisfaction survey to all ABC RMC members. The survey contained questions on ABC RMC programs, events, education, and the professional challenges and needs of members. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to take the survey. The Board of Directors reviewed the survey results as a group in its annual fall planning session. As a result of this survey, we are pleased to share with you some changes and improvements for 2022 and beyond.

Reorganized Committee Structure - We have returned to a traditional committee structure with five standing committees. We will no longer utilize a regional council structure. Our five standing committees will include members from all regions of our
ABC jurisdiction which includes Colorado and Wyoming. Each committee will have a chair,
co-chair and a board liaison. Committees report to the Board of Directors and are supported day to day by the President/CEO and staff. The five standing committees are:

Government Affairs
Safety, Education & Training
Workforce Development & Scholarship
Young Professionals
Golf Committee

Committees of any organization exist to carry out the work of the Board and to improve efficiencies within associations. We are confident this structure will be more efficient for our chapter and serve our membership well as we go forward.

2022 Chapter-Wide Events - Our Committees and President/CEO are underway planning chapter-wide events. For this year, these events will include: three (3) golf tournaments (Northern Colorado, Metro Denver, Southern Colorado); Excellence in Construction Awards; three (3) holiday parties (Northern Colorado, Metro Denver and Southern Colorado); and a re-imagined safety conference. Our committees are also working on other smaller events. For example, the Young Professionals Committee will bring back the Cornhole Tournament this summer. This event will be open to all members and guests. For more information click here for our one-page calendar that includes 2022 events, happenings, and education.

Safety, Training and Education - This year we’ve conducted several training classes including CQM, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid and Equipment Certification.  Additional classes are scheduled through November.  Based on feedback in the member survey we’ve arranged for ABC’s Project Management Course to come to Denver in 2023.  If there are training classes or safety topics, you would like to see us offer please contact us.  All input is welcome.

Workforce Development - ABC RMC has provided the Wyoming Electrical Apprenticeship Education Program in various formats since the mid-1980’s. The program consists of a four level (year) curriculum delivered locally to apprentices by designated instructors throughout the State. The program's goal is to offer a complete education of electrical apprentices, qualifying them to screen for their Journeyman’s license and to perform their jobs properly and safely.  This is a self-paced distance learning program. More than 40 companies and 100 apprentices and individuals are currently enrolled. We have been working every week with a professional database consultant provided by ABC National to improve our administrative procedures and record keeping of this program. We will continue to make improvements to the program and we look forward to continuing to work with participating companies.
Coming Soon…The 2022 Economic Forecast Breakfast - We are pleased to bring to members and to the Colorado construction community our annual Economic Forecast Breakfast featuring ABC’s Chief Economist, Dr. Anirban Basu. This popular event will be held in-person at the Hilton Denver Inverness on Thursday, April 21st. You won’t want to miss this!  Dr. Basu will share his latest economic forecast to include insights on the construction industry and the Colorado marketplace. Click here to register today for the Economic Forecast.

Partnership Program and Sponsorship Opportunities for Members - We are redesigning the traditional partnership program. The new program will roll out again this fall for 2023.  For 2022 we are offering opportunities for members to get brand exposure and to support their favorite ABC RMC events through individual event sponsorships.  Sponsorships are available in an ala carte format for all our chapter-wide events and our smaller events.  We hope you will participate as an event sponsor in 2022.  If you have any questions or if you would like to propose a sponsorship idea, please contact us.

We’ve Moved!  Earlier this year we moved our office to the Denver Tech Center. We are located between the Dry Creek and Arapahoe exits on the West side of I-25. Our new office space provides the opportunity to better serve our members and to work collaboratively with our business partners.

The Associated Builders and Contractors exists to represent the ENTIRE commercial construction industry and is based around one principle…the Merit Shop. If you believe in open and fair competition, then you need to be part of what ABC Rocky Mountain Chapter is doing locally.

On behalf of the Board of Directors we are committed to providing value to our members through our local Chapter.  We will make efforts this year to also ensure members are aware of all the great member benefits ABC National provides.
