A Message from the

Chief Executive Officer

Dear ABC Recovery Center Family,

As the year 2025 begins, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt wishes to each member of our extended ABC family. I hope your holiday season was filled with joy, warmth, and meaningful connections, and may the coming year bring prosperity and happiness to you and your loved ones.

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the resilience, dedication, and compassion that define our community. It is because of you—our supporters, staff, and partners—that ABC Recovery Center continues to be a beacon of hope for those battling substance use disorders. Your commitment and belief in our mission are what make ABC a place of healing and transformation.

Looking ahead, we have so much to be excited about. The culmination of our expansion project, set to be completed by the end of 2025, is within sight. This transformative development will enable us to extend our reach, offering new resources and support to even more individuals in need. It will also create numerous employment opportunities, not only for the skilled professionals who are the backbone of ABC but also for those in our community seeking a career with an organization on an inspiring upward trajectory. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact this project will bring.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible staff. Day in and day out, you demonstrate unwavering commitment and compassion, often in less-than-ideal conditions. Your dedication ensures that those we serve receive the care and support they need to embark on their recovery journey. You are the heart and soul of this organization, and we are endlessly thankful for you.

To everyone who contributes to making ABC Recovery Center the special place it is, thank you. Together, we are creating a brighter future for those in need and for our entire community.

May the joys of the holiday season be with you all year long. Wishing you a prosperous New Year.

Chris Yingling - CEO
ABC Recovery Center, Inc.

Thanksgiving is a special Holiday for most of us. At ABC, it's an opportunity for our clients and their families to gather and not just enjoy the amazing meal, but to give thanks for how their lives are being changed by the services that ABC provides.

The Morongo Indian Tribe provides ABC with thirty-five turkeys that are used to create the centerpiece for the meal. Chef John Lopez and his team take days to bake the turkeys and make the side dishes that will accompany the meal. The turkeys are stuffed with pineapple, onions, oranges, a variety of herbs including rosemary, basil, oregano, lots of garlic and bay leaves. Also served were mash potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, pineapple glazed ham, stuffing, and macaroni and cheese.

It takes a team of four people several hours to create this meal that was served to approximately 120 people. Thank you Ed Gil, Bruce Vu, Rosie Nong, and chef John Lopez!

ABC pulls out all the stops to celebrate the holidays with the ABC family/ The event is open to all ABC staff and our board members are invited as well. The luncheon is held at Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino and it includes a massive lunch buffet with carving station as well as an Ugly Sweater Context and White Elephant Gift Exchange. ABC also provides opportunity drawing tickets to the team who can win any number of prizes given away throughout the event. A slide show is also produced which includes the highlights throughout the year.

Each month, ABC Recovery Center provides our clients who have completed their treatment an opportunity to give their testimonial about their care. We encourage their honest assesment in hopes that it informs our care. Our mission is to guide recovery and to provide the best of care possible for those who are brave enough to make the journey to wellness. We are going to share these tesimonials with you in each newsletter, in hopes that we all learn a bit more about why our mission matters.

Every month, the ABC Recovery Center team identifies our Rock Stars. This is a peer designation which makes it even more special. Rock Stars are member of our staff who are going above and beyond the expectations of their positions. They are making our mission happen and are integral to the important changes we are helping our clients make in their lives.

Monthly, staff are included in the request to nominate a Rock Star. They are asked what inspired them to nominate their peer and are provided six criteria to select from that apply to their nominee. The survey is tabulated, and the winners are announced by Human Resources.

Our October Rock Star is Vanessa Soliz (right) pictured with Joe Knyvett. Vanessa is a lead medical assistant who was hired in January of 2020.

Vanessa's c0-workers share that "she is taking the lead in nursing and dedicated to her team", and

"she is extremely helpful to her team and makes herself available to support her coworkers and mangement."

Happy fifth anniversary Vanessa!

Our November Rock Star is Barbara Bell (right)l pictured with Lisa Wolfe.. Barbara joined ABC in November 2021 as per diem Behavioral Health Technician, and has since become a full-time in her position. Here coworkers have great things to say about Barbara:

• Barbara consistently steps up to help, often taking on extra shifts when needed.

• She works exceptionally well with clients in the Haven House, bringing a "no-nonsense" approach while showing genuine care and support, particularly for clients at ATA risk.

• Always reliable and punctual, Barbara goes above and beyond her duties every day.

Great job Barbara!
